| Wollastonite's benign chemical
make-up is the key reason it is used in place of other industrial
minerals and fibres.
Extensive studies indicate that wollastonite's properties
are safe, posing no health hazards. Here are the reasons
why:
- it has low bio-durability therefore, long-term health
effects from inhalation are neglibible.
- it is considered non-toxic and non-carcinogenic. Any
health and safety concerns during handling are limited
to those related to inhalation of nuisance dusts. Standard
industry practice in dust contamination and collection
should be observed when working with these products.
- it is a stable oxide so dust generated during handling
is non-conductive, non-flammable and non-explosive.
- it is not hydroscopic and is produced with less than
0.1% moisture.
